10 Things Every Woman Should Have in Her Purse

10 Things Every Woman Should Have in Her Purse

When I was prepping this post, and pouring out the contents of my Chanel wallet on chain my husband turned to me and said ‘do you think you should alternate the bags, I feel you use that one in every shot?’.
The cheek, yes I do use it in every shot and that’s because ever since I became a mother, I have had to downsize my bag in order to accommodate the diaper bag that Chance needs for me to carry around...have you seen what’s in a baby’s diaper bag?

Losing Sleep, over Losing Sleep

Chance & I - I am wearing River Island cream jacquard pyjama top and bottom, Chance is wearing John Lewis Baby Organic Cotton Bodysuit

This morning the clocks went forward at 1am and launched us into British Summer Time.
Spring is one of my favourite seasons, mainly because it's my birthday, I love seeing flowers bloom, getting a ton of presents, and all round feeling 'Springy'; Summer is usually better, vacations and sun...I just seem to function so much better as a person with sunlight.

106 days of Chance

Chance and those nail varnish marbled eggs

“There's Really Nothing Quite So Sweet As
Oh, how I love baby feet, and those toes! Why do they grow so fast?”
Author Unknown

It’s Chance’s first Easter this weekend, and I am trying to capture these special moments and document them as well as I can. I have spent time marbling eggs with nail polish (without gloves), as I type, there is blue, pinks and white nail polish dotted all over my right hand; I have taken many photos, as new parents do and I have talked to him about the meaning of Easter...unsure of whether he has understood me, but he smiles anyway.

A Bobble of Water on #WorldWaterDay

Bobble Infuse and flowers from my friend Serah

When I was at school, we had this nurse who would prescribe water for everything. If you had a cold, water was the cure, if you were stung by a wasp, water was the cure, if you had a headache, you guessed it, water would cure it.

23 new mum Valentine's Day gift ideas that aren't flowers or chocolate

Screen Shot 2016-02-12 at 16.09.01.png

Valentine's’ day is 4 days away, and I am publishing this post later than I had planned! What does Valentine's day mean? For some it is a liturgical holiday, to commemorate Saint Valentine who performed weddings for soldiers who were not allowed to be married, and was imprisoned for these acts. For others it is a day to express their love to a partner by offering chocolates, soppy cards, flowers and other gifts. For me, as a new mother it is a day to communicate my love to MrL as I have been swept up by my son (obviously!) and vice versa.

Pregnancy Workout DVDs Edit

I have always been ‘a little bit’ active, and being pregnant reminds me that I need to have my body in peak physical condition. Peak physical condition for me, not compared to athletes or anything!

I am well aware that labour isn’t how Hollywood portrays, you don’t suddenly have a gush of liquid, 5 minutes later you’re yelling and then baby is born. Labour is a marathon, not a sprint, in most cases. First time mothers like me, may experience active labour for up to 8 hours, this is an average, so it could be shorter or longer than this. So, I am preparing for labour, the same way that one would prepare for a 5k.

Sleeping Edit

In my first trimester, I think all I did was sleep! In fact according to my Jawbone, I slept on average 12 hours and 20 minutes a night...which in other words is a lot! Pre-pregnancy I couldn’t even imagine sleeping for more than half a day, usually getting around 7.5hours sleep nightly, but I soon learnt that it takes up a lot of energy being knocked up.
When you’re sleeping that much, being the perfectionist that I am, I wanted to ensure that I was sleeping ‘correctly’; I had read that in the second trimester, sleeping on your back could make you feel faint due to the pressure on the major blood vessels (Okay, no sleeping on my back, check!); that I should become a habitual left side sleeper , maximising the nutrients that my baby receives (Got it, swap from my usual right side, to my left, check!) and buy a pregnancy pillow which ensures that you sleep on your left side, check I need a pregnancy pillow too!
Lots of advice, lots of reading and lots of things for me to modify.
MrL and I made the trip to John Lewis to purchase the DreamGenii, and that was that. I don’t know where I had read that I needed a £48 pillow to ensure that I slept on my left side,  but I bought into it and bought it! In my defence, I have used it for well over 100 days now so the cost per use has vastly decreased…
